Description

Aquarium-safe lubricant designed for filter motors and O-rings

AquaVascular AquaGlide is a specialised grease formulated specifically for aquarium equipment. Unlike petroleum-based lubricants — which can leach toxic compounds into water — AquaGlide is 100% fish-safe, non-toxic, and completely inert once applied. If you’ve ever hesitated to lubricate your canister filter’s O-rings because you weren’t sure what would happen to your livestock, this is the product built for that exact worry.

Where you’ll actually use it

  • Canister filter O-rings — Eheim, Fluval, SunSun, Oase and other external canisters all rely on rubber gaskets that dry out over time. A thin coating of AquaGlide restores the seal and extends O-ring life significantly.
  • Internal filter impellers and motor shafts — reduces friction, cuts down on the humming sound worn bearings make, and can rescue a filter that’s started to run rough.
  • CO2 regulator threads and bubble counter fittings — a light film prevents gas leaks and makes future disassembly easier.
  • Aquarium lid hinges, sump lids, and any moving metal-on-plastic contact points where you want quiet, smooth movement.
  • Powerhead and wavemaker propeller shafts — restores smooth rotation on units that have started to grind.

Why aquarium-safe matters

Most household lubricants — WD-40, Vaseline, silicone spray from a hardware store — contain hydrocarbons, propellants, or additives that are toxic to fish and invertebrates. Even a small residue on an O-ring can slowly leach into the water column, particularly stressful for sensitive species like shrimp, discus, and marine livestock. AquaGlide is manufactured with only aquarium-compatible ingredients and has been tested for safety with fish, plants, and invertebrates.

How to apply

Apply a small amount — a pea-sized dab is enough for most O-rings — to a clean, dry finger. Wipe evenly along the length of the O-ring, threads, or moving part. Do not over-apply; a thin, even film performs better than a thick coating and reduces the amount of product that could end up in the water. Reinstall the part and check for smooth movement or a proper seal before returning the equipment to the tank.

Storage and shelf life

Store the tube at room temperature with the cap tightly closed. The grease is stable for years when stored properly, so this small 10g tube will typically last through many maintenance cycles even if you have multiple canister filters.
